Welcome!

Welcome to third grade! I know we're going to have an exciting year, and I am really looking forward to getting to know your children. Let me begin by telling you how I do things. I know this year will be different compared to last year.

I will be enforcing the dress code this year. That means shirts must be tucked in, and belts should be worn.

We will have P.E. by Coach Dillard every Tuesday and Friday, so please make sure your child wears athletic shoes.

First of all, I want you to know that I grade everything. Any worksheet or questions answered by your child will come home with a grade. My first year teaching, I discovered that children seem to try harder if they know it counts towards their grade. I do drop the two lowest class grades and the lowest test grade at the end of each nine weeks.

We take a spelling pretest Wednesday of each week, and we take the final test on Friday of each week. Even if your child is absent prior to Wednesday, I expect the test to be taken. Any student who makes 100 on the pretest is exempt from taking the test on Friday.

I am always ready to hear from parents. You can call me, send a note through your child, or email me with any questions or concerns.
